And the race is ON!  With one race down, gasman has taken the early lead with the only lineup under 50 points this week.  Three other teams are within 20 points or less from #1. The Crew picks up right where they left off last season in second place. Ghost Rider gets off to a good start, too, tied for third. Hot Rod Wildcat, another top five team at the end of last season, is the other third place team. Razor X rounds out our first top 5 of the season. Both Razor X and ghost rider get off to a good start after finishing last year just outside the top 20.

Rookies in the top 10  We have several new teams this year! First of all, welcome to all of you from the rest of the league. A few of those teams did pretty good at Daytona. Gordodrivingfor5 finished just outside the top five, just 24 points back from the leader. WEM Racing and Z DOG Racing also finished in the top ten this week. Keep up the good lineups and we might just have a rookie win the championship!

Energizer League - we keep growing and growing and growing...  I'm considering changing the league name to Energizer Racing League. This year we have 45 teams, two more than last year. Actually, I was really hoping for a few more because we had several veteran teams that didn't join again this year. But, we are still growing more and more each year! That makes for some pretty nice prize money at the end of the season. Thanks for everyone who signed up this year - I hope it's a fun year. With this many teams, it sure is competitive at all positions. You can't let your guard down for an instant or you'll have a dozen teams
bump-drafting down your neck!

Who ordered the goose eggs?  It is usually typical of Daytona (and Talladega) to have a strange-looking race result... almost like you dumped all the drivers into a can, shook it up, and dumped them out over the finish line. Add to that a rain-shortened race and I'm surprised Logano didn't go home with the checkers. That's certainly reflected in the category columns where there are a LOT of goose eggs... meaning most teams ended the day with no drivers in the top 10, and even fewer teams with drivers in the top 5. Razor X was to only team get two drivers into the top 10. It's always nice to have a frustrating race to start things off with. Most races, an 80 point lineup would pretty much drop you like a rock down the season standings chart. This race, a 79 point lineup would have got you 8th place!

DVR junkie  I've finally joined most of the rest of civilization.  I just upgraded to a Dish DVR receiver.  No biggie, right?  Yeah, it's cool you can easily record those favorite shows that are on at inconvenient times.  But other than that, it hasn't really been incredibly useful... until this weekend!.  I didn't fully appreciate the wonders of DVR until I watched a race.  How amazing is it to have your very own instant replay, slow motion, fast forward through the dumb commercials and replay the funny ones, and all the other cool options?  I could watch "the BIG one" over and over again!  Super-slow motion, slow motion in reverse, it was just too cool.  It definitely adds an entirely new dimension to watching a NASCAR race!

Race On!
