Race Summary:

A Ton of Teams in the Teens  Just like last year, after somewhat of a disaster at Daytona, a whole pileup of teams turned in excellent race lineups under 20 points!  Rocketman, Speedracer, & Whitetrash were just one point away from perfection with 11 point rosters - great picks!  Right behind them were new-comers 5Star Hotrod and Macdaddy24 with 13 point lineups.  5Star Hotrod missed Daytona along with some other teams, but this team is showing that they know what it takes to bounce right back and be a contender.  After all was said and done, we had 19 teams with 19 points or less.  Pretty impressive!  Keep up the good work!

Rain Delay  Was anyone else gonna do it?  I'm curious if I'm the only half to fully-crazed racing insomniac.  I was primed with my Mountain Dew, pot of coffee, and a handful of Vivarin to stay awake and catch the remainder of the race.  Okay, maybe I wasn't quite THAT juiced up, but I was willing to stay up and watch the second race of the season in it's entirety.  Finally, they said those three little words I'd been waiting to hear... "Postponed until tomorrow".  While I was waiting the almost 12 hours for the race to start, I did realize I needed to make a clarification in the rules for rain delays.  It should be somewhat understood, but if you've ever raced you know full well that it's not what the rules say, it's what they DON'T say.  So, just for clarification: In the event of a rain-delayed event, the lineup deadline will be extended or re-opened ONLY if no laps have been completed.  So, if this race would have been postponed to Monday before any official laps had been made, I would have opened up the race lineups again and the new deadline would have been set to the postponed race time.  If you're like me, you're second-guessing yourself all the time and making changes right up to the last minute.

The Biggest Loser  I'm sure it was a long wait for at least one team in the league - Racin Rusty.  With Earnhardt and Hamlin going out early, early in the laps on Sunday, I bet that was one team that wasn't too happy to watch the final outcome of the race.  Topping off the league at 94 points doesn't usually hurt so bad when league average is around 50 or 60 points.  But this week's average was a little over 35 points, with a lot of teams in the teens.  Ouch.  Some of the other contenders may have looked a little worse because they had farther to fall.  Hotrod hit the brakes and skidded 28 positions down the charts in the season standings.  BEAD Racing and thunder48 both slid down 25 spots each, with several other teams also losing double-digit positions.  On the up-side, 200 points back last year would have gotten you 7th place, so no one is so bad off they can't recover and make it to the top.  Consistency is the key.

Laws of Gravity  Watch out, the simple laws of gravity don't always apply to fantasy leagues... what goes up, doesn't always come down.  A lot of teams jumped the charts this week, but that was to be expected with so many teams tied after week one.  A few of those teams got the boost they needed and they'll stay in contention.  Others will prove to be "pretenders" and will drop almost as fast as they rose.  I'm not naming names because I don't know who that will be.  One thing I'm pretty sure of is that Hot Rod Wildcat isn't doing a very good job and the #1 spot.  Billinger Racing is breathing down my neck and will probably take over #1 next week, barring any miscues or phenomenal lineups from teams below.  This week, I stayed in the lead by 1 point... which is probably the racecar equivalent of about 1/2 a bumper.

Bounce-effect  Just like the teams that go up, some of the teams that fell this week won't stay down long.  This early in the season with points still relatively close, you'll often see teams that fell a considerable amount "bounce" the next week and make a big gain.  Last year, racinboys missed a race early on ( 7th race ) and then turned around in the next two races with 17 and 28 point lineups which earned that team 1st place and 2nd place, respectively, for that week.  I've seen it many times when points are close.  It's what makes this league so much fun!

Good Luck to everyone this week!

~ Adam
