Race
Summary:
Winds of
change are blowing... we only had three teams this week that held their season
standing. Everyone else was up down sideways and bass-ackwards. Most
notably we have a NEW LEADER at the top! Race junky defeathered the dirty
duck, thanks to a 119 point roster by dirty duck. Dirty duck wasn't the
only one in the 100+ point roster category. In fact, with a lot of big
names finishing bad (remind anyone of Daytona???), 34% of the league teams had
rosters past the century mark. If you were one of the lucky ones that had
decent or semi-decent picks, congratulations! You avoided the plague this
week! Namely, the Dale Earnhardt Jr/Jimmie Johnson/Kyle Busch
plague. Overall, we had quite a range of points, which made for some nice
gains... and some long falls... in the season standings. Off Constantly
climbs even higher after the brief encounter with the 30th spot a few weeks
ago. Off is back on, and up 7 more spots to 20th. We welcome McCurdy
Racing into the top ten after moving up 5 spots. Brickman moved up 6
spots; Cosmo & KB GB Racing both moved up 5 positions. Speedracer also
makes it into the top 5 this week. Now for the dark side - Lord Vader (hot
rod wildcat) begins the decent back down to bottom-feeder status in a quick
fashion, dropping 7 spots. I'll need some Yoda magic to elevate myself
back to average status after this week! Alas, it was a bad week for the hot
rod's, as Hot Rod also falls 7 spots to 28th. Rocketman also ran out of
fuel... finally. After a very nice rise to the top, Rocketman plummets out
of the top 10 to the 11th spot. Might want to think about firing those
retro-rockets to at least stay in orbit next week. We must all give a
small cheer for Budman, who left the throne in convincing fashion this
week. I tell ya, he was on the throne so much I was beginning to think the
toilet paper was empty or something. But, just like the old porcelain
throne, as soon as one leaves it seems like another one is standing right there
waiting... and this week that lucky person was MonkeyMan! Watch out,
though, because from looking at the roster, Queen B has kept an eye on the
notorious position and is keeping things close at the bottom... no pun intended.
Team
Recognition:
Sorry,
these awards aren't worth anything but bragging rights!
The GOLD
Helmet this week goes to everyone who picked Biffle and Truex Jr. Both
drivers had potential, but may have been a risky selection according to
some. They both turned in top tens, and for some teams (like myself), they
were the ONLY driver that kept the entire roster from going bad!
The SILVER
Steering Wheel Award... got to give this one to Brickman and Smoke20 for picking
Kenseth. Kenseth was a dominant selection for this race. I'm sure
many people had Kenseth in their lineup and changed for some reason, or were
seriously considering him. I regrettably traded out Kenseth for Johnson at
the last minute for some stupid reason...
The BRONZE
Burnout Award goes to The Intimidator for being the ONLY team to select Jeff
Burton in the lineup.
The GOLDEN
Dipstick Award goes to myself, Hot Rod Wildcat for picking JJ Yeley. He
was my budget driver, and I was hoping for a decent turnout. Yeah.
Whatever. Lap 1. LAP 1! I had pretty much accepted the
fact that I would be at the bottom or very near the bottom of the league for
this race by lap 2. Nice pick...
Honorable mention goes to dirty duck for the fall from the top, and MonkeyMan
& Hotrod for being the new bottoms of the league for the season and this
race.
