Race
Summary:
The dirty
duck remains a quack above the rest... actually 29 quacks above the closest one
of us, to be exact. Race junky lost a couple points the duck, while TBills
and 4U2Envy did a little do-si-do switching spots, and Rocketman remains on the
#5 launch pad... probably refueling for another lift-off. The rest of the
top 10 remained the top 10, but changed a few spots here and there.
Trentonk nearly fell out of the top 10, dropping 4 spots to #10. Trentonk
- if you smell something burning, look down; Smoke20 is ready to jump at any
chance to get into the top 10 and is just 11 points back now that Tony Stewart
turned in a top 10. Quite an improvement from last week's 35th spot.
Most teams in the league agreed that Stewart was a good bet at Martinsville -
all but 4 teams had the #20 in their lineups. Interestingly enough, this
week's best lineup was VILME - who left out the #20, and this week's worst
lineups were Monkeyman and The Intimidator who also left out the #20.
Speaking of the lineups at the bottom, kudos to Off Constantly who spent only 1
week in the cellar and then jumped up 3 spots and had the 2nd best lineup!
Maybe you're just "off occasionally"? That also means we have a
new face at the bottom... well, new this week anyway, it's a familiar face as
Budman reclaims the throne. Careful, it looks like MonkeyMan may be soon
challenging for crown. Overall this week we had some excellent
lineups. The average lineup was 38 points, with several in the
teens. It never fails, you think you have a good lineup when you get 30
points... only to realize that half the teams did better than you. Speed
Junkie turned in a 30 pointer, but with all the good picks this race she found
herself at 16th for the race, but still gained a spot in the season
standings. Others making nice gains on the season chart were VILME, KB GB
Racing, & Hot Rod Wildcat. Some of the not-so-fortunate ones were The
Intimidator, Spanky, & Hotrod.
Team
Recognition:
Sorry,
these awards aren't worth anything but bragging rights!
The GOLD
Helmet this week goes to VILME, Off Constantly, & TBills. Riggs?
RIGGS? Show me your magic, o pickers of the drivers. You can do my
grocery shopping any day. You certainly know how to get the most bang for
the buck, ding for the dollar, dent for the cent, ...I should probably stop
there. Congrats - great lineups!
The SILVER
Steering Wheel Award... got to give this one to McCurdy Racing for selecting
Ricky Rudd, a driver that hasn't turned in a finish better than 26th this
season, with several finishes in the 30's. With Hamlin, Stewart, &
Gordon in the lineup, I'm sure Rudd was the 'budget' driver, but turned out to
be an excellent
selection!
The BRONZE
Burnout Award goes to... (again) Jimmie Johnson. Interestingly enough, we
only had 7 teams select Johnson in their lineup. Like him or not, he's
dominating on the track. With three wins and an average finish of 4.4
(taking out the Daytona blip) it would hard not to put him in your lineup!
That is, unless you're trying to save $$$.
The GOLDEN
Dipstick Award goes to MonkeyMan and The Intimidator, but not too harshly this
week. These teams were to low-men on the totem pole mostly due to
Harvick's misfortune. Several others had Harvick also, but MonkeyMan and
The Intimidator also had another high-pointer that killed the lineup. Take
a week off, lick your wounds, and get back in the green.
Well, now
we get a little spring break before Texas looms with the COY. (Car Of
Yesterday, that is... thought that up all by myself!) I wonder if this
break is strategically placed to give people like me time to get our taxes
done? With March Madness over and a break in the Nextel Cup, I really have
no more excuses to put them off, I guess. I certainly hope I do better in
the racing league than I did with my NCAA bracket!
