Race
Summary:
Even with
the sting of Stewart's 35th place finish, race junky managed to keep pace with
dirty duck. 4U2Envy did not fare as well with the Stewart/Johnson combo in
the lineup. Rocketman must have had enough fuel left from last week to
fire the afterburners, jumping two more spots into the top 5 this week.
Of course, the fact that trentonk and Texas Bitch had 86 & 91 point lineups
didn't hurt any... Trentonk drops out of the top 5, and Texas Bitch falls
out of the top 10 with those lineups. New to the top ten are Whitetrash
and JTC & The Boyz with 61 and 51 point lineups. The average lineup
this week was about 68 points, with a 51 point spread from highest to
lowest. There weren't any huge jumps this week. Hot Rod Wildcat
(myself) made the biggest gain up 8 spots. Being one of the few teams to
NOT select Tony Stewart, I was kicking myself most of the race until the 20 had
problems. I'd rather be lucky than good any day! Whitetrash, JTC
& The Boyz, and The Intimidator all made respectable gains moving up 4
spots. There was similar action on the downside of the chart, too.
With several rosters in the 80's and 90's, there were plenty of teams in the red
this week. We had quite a few 91 point rosters, and the biggest fall was
VILME who dropped from 20th to 26th. Texas Bitch, Cattleman, Spanky, &
Speed Junkie all relinquished 3 spots or more in the season standings, thanks
mostly to Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch. Off Constantly also had a 91 point
roster, but only fell a couple spots... because that's all the farther there was
to fall! That's right, we have a NEW leader at the back of the pack!
So long, Budman - welcome, Off Constantly! Time will tell if Off
Constantly can hold off the rest of the bottom feeders for the notorious
position.
Team
Recognition:
Sorry,
these awards aren't worth anything but bragging rights!
The GOLD
Helmet this week goes to myself... sorry. Hot Rod Wildcat was one of five
teams that didn't select Tony Stewart, and of those five teams I was the only
one that also didn't select Kurt Busch. I guarantee it was dumb luck and
nothing else, so pardon if I take the rare chance to brag a little.
The SILVER
Steering Wheel Award goes to Brickman for selecting Jamie McMurray. Jaime
qualified great but has been a little inconsistent this year. Double kudos
for not going with everyone else's budget driver - Dale Jr. You lost a
couple points, but went out on a limb by picking McMurray over Jr. You'll
never get better than second place when you're following someone else, and if
Jr. would have biffed again, you would have been the hero!
The BRONZE
Burnout Award goes to Smoke20 for being the only team to select the winner Kyle
Busch! Too bad Smoke20 also had Stewart and Truex Jr. in the lineup... a
35 & 37 finish never helps the roster unless you're going for the next award
below...
The GOLDEN
Dipstick Award goes the new leader of the bottom-feeders: Off Constantly!
With a 91 point lineup, Off Constantly has completed the fall from the top 10;
seventh place to be exact. Here's hoping the rest of the season is kinder
to you. I'm sure Budman is happy to get the monkey of his back, even if it
had to be at your expense. Honorable Mention goes out to the rest of the
91 pointers - Texas Bitch, Spanky, and VILME.
