Race
Summary:
The top
three remained unchanged so the foul fowl remains the pointman for the league,
but saw his lead shrink with 4U2Envy, TBills, & race junky looming close in
the rearview mirror. Rocketman launches into 6th place from 17th, with
Speedracer drafting him and zooming from 19th to 8th. The other big
jump this week came from The Crew moving up 9 spots to 13th place. There
were some other teams making their way to the front, with Shake N Bake Racing
getting close enough to catch a sniff the top 10. But, just as any realistic driver will
tell you, big gains usually come at someone else's expense and bad luck. We had plenty
of red in the position change column this week. Nothing really dramatic
with the exception of former top 10 Cosmo, who dropped 11 spots to 19th.
The repercussions of a high-point lineup hurt a lot worse when you're smack in
the middle of the tightest points separations between teams. Cosmo's 95
point roster dropped the team 11 places, but a similar roster only dropped Queen
B a couple spots. When you're on the bottom, ya ain't got far to fall... Queen B, myself (Hot Rod Wildcat), and the rest of the
bottom-feeders don't have too far to fall, but certainly have a long way to the
top. Fortunately, it's also still a long way to the checkered flag for the
season. (Always the optimist!) We also had our first DNF of the
season, with skeelo dropping out. No lineup was submitted and no league
dues had been paid, so he's behind the wall permanently for the season.
That will explain why Budman gained a spot, but still remains in last place,
very closely followed by the Queen B.
Team
Recognition:
Sorry,
these awards aren't worth anything but bragging rights!
The GOLD
Helmet this week it goes out to all the 23 point rosters - The Crew, TBills,
Speedracer, Rocketman, & race junky. You certainly got the most bang
for your buck with your lineups, selecting the best finishing lineup salary-cap
money could buy. I'll bet you have to do all the grocery shopping for the
family, too, huh?
The SILVER
Steering Wheel Award goes to Hotrod and Shake N Bake Racing for selecting Denny
Hamlin and getting a 3rd place finish. I'll bet Hotrod didn't think Denny
would be the best performer in his lineup when he was making driver selections!
The BRONZE
Burnout Award goes to The Crew and Rocketman. Many selected
Jimmie Johnson but it was the first time these teams selected a winner on the
season and both had 23 point rosters - the first place roster total for this
race. Congrats!
The GOLDEN
Dipstick Award goes to Cosmo and skeelo. Cosmo's shining star fell and
landed back in the middle of the pack... let's only hope Cosmo made a wish to
return to the top 10. Skeelo gets honors for a no-show. I highly
doubt he got stuck in Radiator Springs paving Route 66. At least Lightning
McQueen made it to the track when it came race-time... with apologies to Pixar
and the movie Cars.
Season
Discussion:
Things are
a little closer now in the top 4 and the middle of the pack. The bottom
feeders continue to watch the rest of the field pull away, so maybe we can try a
little bump-drafting teamwork to catch back up to the pack. Wins, Top 5's,
& Top 10's are all still tied up for top honors - give it a few more races
and it'll get dicey, though. I was disappointed in dirty duck and JTC
& The Boyz who both ended their pick-the-winner streak.
