Race
Summary:
Last week, only two teams in the top 10 changed positions... this week, all but two of the top 10 changed spots, and only 3 teams remained unchanged in the top 25!
So what happened? Anyone who watched the race would know that bad luck has hit some unlucky drivers like the plague.
Just like two weeks ago, we had a lot of excellent lineups throughout most of the race, then the stuff hit the fan...
First Junior's engine goes into early retirement and drops the #8 into the basement as far as the Chase is concerned. He may still make it, but it's gonna take a lot of good luck on his part, and some bad luck on the part of those drivers directly ahead of him.
And then it was Harvick and Montoya, who were both fairly popular in the team lineups this week for a good reason... they both have had success that made them a favorite this week. However, after lap 72, they proved that was a bad choice this week.
Over yet? You would think so, with only two laps to go. But no, Mr. Gordon decides to turn a kitty in turn one for no apparent reason and relinquishes the win to Mr. Stewart.
The plain and simple truth: some guys have all the luck - Gordon & Jr = bad, Stewart = good. Luck is luck.
That can be said for a lot of teams in the league right now, too. Not many teams have avoided the 30+ driver this week or three weeks ago, when a lot of the popular picks had bad showings.
Hotrod deserves some recognition for a 19 point lineup - one of the "good" luck examples. As far as the "other" kind of luck, just ask Whitetrash and Speed Junkie. They fell victim to not one, not two, but three of the aforementioned drivers: Junior, Montoya, &
Harvick.
Ouch.
The Tyler Tandem enjoys another week in the top spot, but the 59 point cushion has gone to 23 points. And if you're feeling comfortable, you might check the track record of the team in second place... dirty duck owned the #1 spot longer than any other team in the league this year, by far.
Rocketman was the biggest winner this week in the season standings with Speedracer gaining good ground, too. The top ten tightened up on the leader about 30 points, which should make several teams excited about their chances for a good finish on the season.
All but three teams had the race winner, unfortunately one of those teams was the wins leader - Off Constantly. Now we have a three way tie for most wins at 10, with four more teams at 9 wins.
The top 5's belong to Hot Rod Wildcat right now at 33, with trentonk following at 30, and Whitetrash & race junky next at 28.
Top 10's are a little closer, but dirty duck still has sole posession of 1st place at an even 50. Four teams are right behind him though, with 49 top 10's.
Don't count yourself out if you've had some bad luck... just pray for that bad luck to find someone else for the next few races! We still have a lot of racing left in the season.
