Race Summary:

It looks like the blind squirrel found another nut as Hot Rod Wildcat somehow turns in a 17 point roster last week!  That race lineup gained HRW 4 spots, moving into 12th place.

Speedracer, The Crew, and trentonk also turned in respectable lineups but The Crew benefited the most - moving up 3 spots. Speedracer only gained one season position due to the gap in points, and trentonk moves a little higher into the top 10 to 8th spot.

Overall, the top four teams for the race didn't move a tremendous amount in the season standings, but certainly gained almost 20 points or more on the league's leader The Tyler Tandem. If you're going for the win, now is the time to start making your move with The Chase looming in the near future... not many races left to make your way through the field if you're mired in the middle of the pack. If you're 240 points behind the leader, you'll have to gain an average of 15 points per race to make it to the top in the next 16 races. It's not crunch time yet, so conservative picks can still win you some spots in the long run. But pretty soon you'll need some luck and some 'non-traditional' lineups to gain a lot of spots. Remember, it's not how good your lineup is... it's how good it is compared to everyone else that week! A 40 point lineup can be impressive if some popular drivers go down and finish at the back!

Dirty duck has quietly made his way back near the top of the league standings... currently sitting in 2nd place. That's the good news. The bad news is 2nd place is 36 points behind the leader right now! 100 points out used to get you into the top 10, but now you'd just barely be in the top 5!  Things are getting spaced out at the top, but don't get too comfortable... a 50 point cushion can quickly be consumed with an unlucky lineup. (Yes, voice of experience speaking.)

While the points spread out at the top, the rest of the league is getting a lot tighter... only 1 point per position separates 11th & 12th, 13th & 14th & 15th, 19th & 20th & 21st, 24th & 25th, and 26th & 27th!!! Now that's what I call racing! Not much margin for error when the racing is this close! With a little bump-drafting maybe we can all close in on the league leader.

Special recognition goes out this week to MonkeyMan who finally got the monkey of his back as VILME successfully overtakes MonkeyMan for the throne. Congrats MonkeyMan... welcome back to the top 28!

Condolensces go out to all the Dale Jr. fans who once again paid the price for little E's bad luck. Gotta say if Junior had made it the last 24 laps we would have had some nice lineups in the teens and 20's.

Another spoiler was Ryan Newman. With a 3rd place qualifying run, I guess everyone got excited about the Indiana native - even though he has not finished better than 30th for three years now. I seem to remember years past when Mr. Pole Position wiped up the competition during qualifying, but couldn't seem to finish a race in the top 25! Better luck next time.

The budget driver this week was Reed Sorenson... picked by nobody, so I'll vote for what I thought was the next-best budget driver: Juan Montoya. I was really surprised to see that only 5 of the 29 league teams selected Montoya. I suppose it was TOO easy of a pick and perhaps many people thought he would be over-confident and do something to jeopardize a good finish. Either way, Juan proved himself to be a good pick at Indy this year.

Next up... Pocono!
