Race
Summary:
What a
difference a week makes... we go from record highs to record lows. The
only thing more extreme from week to week is the Kansas weather! There
were some good lineups in the 20's, and some excellent lineups in the teens, but
with Earnhardt Jr, Edwards, and Kahne having less than spectacular finishes - we
also had a large amount of lineups that were 70+. That made for some big
jumps in the season standings! Congratulations to Cattleman - one week
after receiving the Golden Dipstick award, he jumps 17 spots! Whitetrash
also cleaned house, took out the trash from last week, and jumped 16 spots with
a 1st place lineup and new race record of 11 pts!. The biggest losers
include Speedracer - down 15 thanks to a Kahne/Edwards tandem in the lineup and
myself, Hot Rod Wildcat - down 12 for the same misguided lineup tandem.
One team with an excellent 14 point lineup didn't move up at all... that's
because the dirty duck was already in the #1 position!!! Dirty duck may very
well be flying off from the rest of the flock if the rest of us don't get our
act together soon. At least 4U2Envy has stayed close enough to be a threat
through a couple races, but the rest of the league is over 50 points back from
the leader. TBills super-jumps into the league's top 5, along with a small
step up into the top 5 by race junky. JTC & the Boyz dropped out of
the top 5 like a rock thanks to Earnhardt Jr. and Kahne. Interesting note:
last week JTC had an 86 point lineup that earned them 2nd in the league for that
race. This week they added a point with an 87 point lineup and got dead
last! My condolences go out to Cosmo, Queen B, The Tyler Tandem, skeelo,
& VILME who had the misfortunate flat tire on Harvick's car with 3 laps to
go.
Team
Recognition:
Sorry,
these awards aren't worth anything but bragging rights!
The GOLD
Helmet this week it goes out to all the Gordon fans. Okay, maybe you're
not a fan, but you know when the 24 is going to be good and even if you don't
like him, you still put him in your lineup!
The SILVER
Steering Wheel Award goes to Budman and Spanky for being the only ones to select
Clint Bowyer who qualified 6th and finished 6th, one week after sliding across
the finish line upside-down and on fire... literally. Honorable mention
goes out to race junky for selecting Jeff Burton.
The BRONZE
Burnout Award once again goes to both dirty duck and JTC & The Boys who are
two-for-two on selecting the winner in their lineup. Honorable mention
goes out to all the other teams that selected Kenseth for this race.
The GOLDEN
Dipstick Award is a toss-up between JTC & the Boys, Budman, & Speedracer:
JTC & the Boys for their last place lineup, Budman for the new season point
last place honors, and Speedracer for the biggest drop in the season
standings. You have my sympathy.
Season
Discussion:
Most of us
seem to be jumping around quite a bit, which is expected this early in the
season. If you're not doing well, don't get discouraged just yet though...
you can see how fast things can change with a little luck (bad and good)!
With the majority of the league within about 60 points of each other, things
should stay pretty competitive. And with a little bad luck at the top and
a little good luck at the bottom, things could get really interesting!
We've got
a week off to regroup, then it's off to Vegas!
