Race Summary:

After one week out of the top 2, race junky and the double-D (dirty duck) have again reclaimed the two best spots in the season standings, however it's race junky leading the league this time.  Race junky is no stranger to the top spot having held that position for a couple weeks earlier in the season.  With a 24 point lead on dirty duck, he'll have some room to work with... but not much.

McCurdy Racing showed just how much an excellent roster can move you up, even near the middle of the season!  With our first place race roster of 20 points this week, McCurdy Racing jumps up 10 spots into 10th place.  Another team just ahead of that in 9th place certainly deserves some recognition... The Intimidator kinda had a rough start this season, and was up and down in the race results early on.  But consistency has now earned that team a top 10 spot... a team that was once ranked 29th in the season standings!

Whitetrash is another team worth recognizing this week.  This team has been hanging out in the top 10 most of the season, but now cracks the top 5, tied for 4th place on the season, with a second place race roster of 25 points this week.

To paraphrase the old adage, "The closer they are, the quicker they fall."  This of course works both ways, but The Crew had the misfortune of going south this time.  Thanks to a tight points race and a 24th place race roster, The Crew falls 4 spots this week into the clutches of 21st place.

The whole Tony Stewart / Kurt Busch debacle was a frustrating thing... again.  Kinda reminds me of Daytona.  I don't remember what I was doing, but I missed that whole incident and when I got back to the race I saw the results with the 20 and the 2 at the back.  I was somewhat confused about what happened because I never caught the announcers saying anything about the incident.  Finally this morning I read on NASCAR.com what happened and watched the replay video, and I have to say I'm very disappointed in Busch's reaction on pit road.  It makes things interesting, even though it's extremely dangerous, when drivers get upset and take out their frustrations on the track.  But pit road?  With both drivers wearing helmets, what exactly did he think he was going to say?  Perhaps some carefully crafted hand signals?  Who knows, but I'll be surprised if there aren't some hefty penalties for the Blue Deuce later on this week.

As we approach the midway point of the season, the standings look like we're averaging about 10 points between ranked positions.  Some are a little more, some are a little tighter.  For instance, 9 points separate 12th through 17th place, and we have ties at 4th place and 10th place.  Tight points make it easy to gain a lot of spot quickly... given you're on the top end of the race lineup results!  For those of us near the middle and bottom of the pack, we need to start cracking down and concentrate on those lineups.  The closer we get to the end of the season, the less room there is for mistakes.

A forewarning for next week, it may take me a few days to get the post-race writeup completed.  I'll be getting married this weekend and may have just a few other things to take care of on Sunday and Monday with a lot of family here and getting ready for the honeymoon.
